The University of Toronto Chapter is part of the larger Health Out Loud non-profit organization. In order to alleviate health illiteracy and political apathy, we create safe spaces for debates on health topics. We approach the term ‘health’ from a multi-dimensional perspective so that dimensions such as the social determinants of health are included. Our goal is to spark an interest in health within the student population so that students are excited to learn about health and form their own opinions. We believe that health is an important topic that impacts everyone and that students should be concerned with the future of health in Canada.
As a group, we organize several small and larger events including bake sales, movie nights and article competitions. We are affiliated with the YMCA, the York Region District Board Schools, the Toronto Catholic School Board Schools, the Rotary Club of Toronto Skyline, as well as several professors.
We welcome anyone who is interested in our mission to join us! Whether you want to help us at the executive level or just attend our events, you are important.
